PEERS-Informed Social Skills GroupsKent Island Office (Near Annapolis, MD)
We are currently forming PEERS-informed social skills groups for children and adolescents who struggle with making and keeping friends, reading social cues, or feeling comfortable in social situations.
Groups are led by Dr. Caitlin Condit, a clinician who specializes in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related social communication challenges.
What Are PEERS-Informed Social Skills Groups?
PEERS (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) is an evidence-based approach that teaches concrete, step-by-step skills for friendship and social connection.Our PEERS-informed groups blend structured teaching with real-life practice, role-plays, and supportive feedback to help kids and teens use these skills in their everyday lives.
Who Are These Groups For?
These groups may be a good fit if your child or teen:
- Has an ASD diagnosis or related social communication difficulties
- Wants friends but has trouble knowing how to start or maintain friendships
- Feels awkward, anxious, or overwhelmed in social situations
- Benefits from clear structure, predictable routines, and explicit social skills coaching
Our Upcoming PEERS-Informed Groups
Teen Summer Wind Down & School Readiness Group
(Mondays, July 27–August 31, 2026, 6:30–7:30 pm) PEERS-informed group for teens focusing on easing the transition from summer back to school, managing social anxiety, and strengthening peer connections. Teens will work on:
- Easing the transition from summer back into the school routine
- Reducing social anxiety about returning to school
- Practicing skills for classrooms, lunch, recess, and extracurricular activities
- Strengthening coping strategies and confidence for the start of the new school year
- Building and maintaining friendships across settings
Kids Fall Start-Up & School Social Support Group
(Saturdays, September 12–October 17, 2026, 10:30–11:30 am) PEERS-informed group for elementary-age children focusing on school adjustment, playground/lunch social skills, and friendship building. Kids will work on:
- Adjusting to the new school year and daily routines
- Making and keeping friends
- Joining in with peers at recess and lunch
- Handling teasing, disagreements, and social misunderstandings
- Strengthening confidence in school and social settings
Future PEERS-Informed Groups
We anticipate offering additional PEERS-informed groups (e.g., further teen or child groups). If you are interested, please specify your child’s age range and your scheduling preferences in the form (click on link below).
What to Expect in Group
- Small group size to support individualized attention
- Structured lessons, modeling, and role-plays to teach skills clearly
- Opportunities to practice skills in-session in a supportive, low-pressure environment
- Collaboration with caregivers so skills can be reinforced at home and in the community
